Globetronics' 4Q net profit down 60% on lower volume loadings

KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 23): Globetronics Technology Bhd's net profit plunged 59.6% to RM6.37 million or 2.26 sen a share in the fourth quarter ended Dec 31, 2016 (4QFY16), from RM15.74 million a year ago, on lower volume loadings from some of the group's customers as a result of reduction in end customers' demand.
Globetronics also attributed the lower quarterly earnings to lower grant income of RM600,000recognised and higher taxation expense of RM2.3 million in the current quarter.
Quarterly revenue also fell 39.5% to RM46.73 million, from RM77.22 million in 4QFY15.
The weak 4QFY16 earnings dragged Globetronics' full-year FY16 net profit down 63.9% to RM25.72 million or 9.13 sen a share, from RM71.31 million or 25.34 sen a share in FY15, as its Malaysia and Singapore segments recorded sales and net profit decline, compared with last year.
Revenue for FY16 also fell 37.3% to RM215.35 million, from RM343.66 million the previous year, mainly due to lower volume loadings from some of its customers and lower net foreign exchange gain recognised of RM8.6 million.
Moving forward, Globetronics expects to see similar performance in 1QFY17 and strong recovery in the business and product loading, starting from the second half of 2017.
"The business operations of the group are not affected by any major seasonal or cyclical factors.
"The group will also continue to focus on escalating up the value chain and riding on the research and development initiatives in new products design and development with our key customer. This initiative is expected to result in the manufacturing of new products in 2017," said Globetronics.
Globetronics shares closed 4.27% or 18 sen higher at 81 sen today, lifting its market capitalisation to RM1.23 billion.

（吉隆坡25日讯）东益电子（Globetronics Technology Bhd）2016财政年第三季净利跌挫55%至915万令吉，或每股3.25仙，同期净赚2049万令吉，或每股7.28仙，因销售按年走低及蒙受外汇损失。
2016财年第三季（截至2016年9月30日止）营业额下跌40%至5246万令吉，同期录得8871万令吉。
该集团表示，来自大马和新加坡业务的销售皆按年走低。
“当季录得较低的营业额和净利，主要归咎于一些终端客户的需求减低，因而导致装载容量较低，外加蒙受合共303万令吉的外汇损失。”
总计2016财年首九个月的业绩表现，东益电子净利按年暴跌65%至1935万令吉，或每股6.87仙；同期净赚5557万令吉，或每股19.76仙；合共三季营业额报1亿6861万令吉，同期录得2亿6643万令吉，跌幅达37%。
展望未来，东益电子预计，2017财年（截至2017年12月31日）的业务及产品装载量或逐步复苏，下一季的业绩表现料将和第三季的相去不远。
“集团将继续专注于提高价值链，并与我们的主要客户一起参与新产品设计和开发计划。该集团拟将透过这项计划在2017年制造新产品。”
闭市时，东益电子挫32仙或8.3%，以3.56令吉挂收，市值达10亿令吉。

东益电子跌5.5% 次季净利暴跌64%

（吉隆坡27日讯）东益电子（Globetronics Technology Bhd）2016财政年次季净利暴跌64%至652万令吉，同期净赚1793万令吉，归咎于大马与新加坡的销量及盈利走低，该股盘中随即下跌5.5%。
截至早上10时11分，东益电子跌18仙至3.09令吉，成交量达240万400股。
2016财年次季（截至2016年6月30日）营业额跌挫36%至5741万令吉，同期报8903万令吉。
东益电子向大马交易所报备指：“营业额和净利走低主要是因为终端客户的需求减少，销量也跟着减少，外加兑汇亏损累计470万令吉。”
总结2016财年上半年的业绩表现，该集团净利猛挫71%至1020万令吉，同期净赚3508万令吉；累计营业额也按年萎缩35%。

（吉隆坡26日讯）东益电子（Globetronics Technology Bhd）2016财政年首季（截至今年3月31日）净利暴跌78.5%至368万令吉，或每股1.31仙，同期净赚1715万令吉或每股6.1仙。
这家半导体公司将净利劲挫的原因，归咎于需求走低和装载容量（volume loadings）走低，以及外汇亏损460万令吉。
该公司今日向大马交易所报备，客户需求走低也致使营业额跌挫33.8%至5874万令吉，同期营业额报8870万令吉。
东益电子的主要产品包括传感器、石英（quartz）计时装置、发光二极管（light emitting diodes），以及综合电路。
鉴于电子领域普遍放缓，该集团预计，本财年次季一些客户的装载容量将跟着走低。
“该集团将着重于提升价值链，并继续投入研究与开发新产品。我们预测，本财年下半年将有新产品推出市面。”
东益电子的股价在4月21日，从5.37令吉暴跌17.3%至4.44令吉。该集团昨日随即接获马交所发出不寻常市场交易（UMA）质询。
东益电子今日也回应马交所的UMA质询称，除了几篇与公司相关的报道和文章外，东益电子对其他任何或致使股价暴跌的原因毫不知情。
东益电子也引述其他文章的内容，并强调智能手机或平板电脑制造商生产的产品前景走软及需求放缓，以及台湾一份报章也报导有关智能手机或平板电脑制造商，要求当地的零件供应商降低成本约20%至30%。
闭市时，东益电子跌挫55仙或12.38%，收报于3.89令吉，全日一共有3320万6700股易手，市值达11亿200万令吉。该股也是今日全场最大下跌股。
